What drove GDR citizens onto the streets in 1989? What were they protesting for and what were they protesting against? How did this Peaceful Revolution come about and how did it remain peaceful?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project day begins with a guided tour of the permanent exhibition \u201cIMPRISONMENT | DICTATORSHIP | REVOLUTION: Thuringia 1949\u20131989\u201d. During a city walk with the multimedia guide, the students visit important \u201cSites of the Peaceful Revolution in Erfurt\u201d and consider the events of autumn 1989. They also learn about key players in the revolution \u2013 in particular, those courageous Erfurt residents who occupied the Stasi district administration in Andreasstrasse on December 4th, 1989, in order to save the Stasi files from destruction. The project day ends with a group discussion at the Memorial. On request, we can also organise a conversation with an eyewitness to discuss their experiences during the Peaceful Revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
