Public Tours

There is a public guided tour in German every Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm. It lasts 90 minutes and is included in the entrance fee. Registration is not required for the public tours.

We also offer a public tour ‘inclusive Andreasstrasse’. It takes place every first Sunday of the month at 2 pm. This guided tour in simplified German is aimed at everyone. During this tour our team of visitor guides with assistance needs will guide you through the building. The public guided tour ‘inclusive Andreasstrasse’ lasts 60 minutes and is included in the admission price. Prior registration is also not necessary for this tour.

Multimedia guide

The multimedia guide offers a guided tour of the entire permanent exhibition “IMPRISONMENT | DICTATORSHIP | REVOLUTION: Thuringia 1949 – 1989” in English.

The multimedia guide is also suitable for people with hearing difficulties.

Within the memorial, the use of our multimedia guides is free of charge.

If you want to delve into the history of the GDR in the city of Erfurt yourself, you can visit important “Sites of the Peaceful Revolution in Erfurt” with our multimedia guide and trace the events of autumn 1989. This service costs 3€ per person.

You can borrow the multimedia guide at the service desk in the entrance area.
